Chernobyl: Abandoned Village Lubyanka

The village has an ancient history and it has been known since the XVII century. There was
a wooden church. Time of construction of this church isn't known. The village Lubyanka is
situated 36 km away from Polesky. There lived about 1000 people in the middle of the XX
century. There was an eight-year school. Lubyanka was a pottery center in this region.

After the accident on the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station (in 1986) the population was moved
to the new-built village Lubyanka in Vasylkivsky district, Kiev region. This new village was
specially built for people from the Chernobyl exclusion zone.
