More 500 Million Euros are needed for the Construction of a new Shelter in Chernobyl
A metal structure is done for about 60 % of the total installation.
"Still a lot of work is being done on the front wall, folding panels" - says the deputy head of the New Safe Confinement Project Victor Zalizetskyy .Thus the Director of Nuclear Safety European Bank of Reconstruction and Development Vince Novak said that the construction of the sarcophagus turned out to be more expensive than expected and at its completion an additional 500 million euros were needed.
The construction of a new sarcophagus in Chernobyl began on April 26, 2012. It was stated then that its cost would be UAH 935 million. Much amount of money was gathered by Ukraine in 2011 during the Chernobyl Pledging Conference.
