The Workshop
On December 10-14, 2012 SSE “Chernobyl NPP” organized the workshop which goal was to
discuss improvement, planning and building of radioactive waste management facilities.
The discussed points were topics on synergies in operation, construction and licensing of waste
management facilities, understanding of properties of waste as key premise for a choice of the
optimized technologies of processing, storage and disposal.
Methods of determining waste characteristics to optimize designing of waste management
facilities were discussed at the workshop. Furthermore, methods of determining waste
characteristics applied in Ukraine, Slovakia and Lithuania during different stages of RAW
management were considered.
